Jim Carey in Yes Man
Recently playing on different direct tv packages is the 2008 comedy Yes Man featuring Jim Carey and Zooey Deschanel. The film is features Jim Carey playing the role of Carl Allen, a banker who is recently divorced and spending most of his time in his apartment avoiding his ex-wife and his best friends. One day he is encouraged to attend a seminar with one of his friends that encourages everyone in the audience to say ‘Yes!’ to every opportunity that comes their way in life. After a good deal of public abuse at the seminar Carl agrees to be a ‘Yes Man’.
From that moment on he begins to re-kindle his friendship with his best friends, along with befriending his oft-forgotten boss. Carl begins to take various lessons to better his life, and accepting every loan application that he is presented with at the bank. His life takes a turn for the better after going to a local bar and watching a female fronted local band. After talking to her at the bar, Carl begins to fall for Allison, played by Zooey Deschanel. The two form a form a quirky duo who enjoy riding Allison’s scooter, and taking plane trips to random locations across the country.
Yet his life takes a turn for the worse when bad, unexplainable events begin to affect his life. His boss gets laid off, his ex-wife tries attempts to get back together with him, and his path is marred with black cats. In a final attempt to take back control of his life, Carl heads back to the seminar to seek guidance about how the program can help him now. He is informed that saying yes is just a suggestion and the program is more of a way to open someone’s mind. He reveals to Allison that under the program he was saying yes to everything, and the two need to begin to restart their relationship with Carl not acting under the programs rules anymore.
